Haiti
Despite the challenging circumstances in Haiti, where gang violence has destabilised the nation following the devastating earthquakes, God’s light continues to shine brightly. Though travel is difficult, we were blessed to connect with our partner and witness the resilient faith of the Haitian people. Vibrant churches and schools stand as testaments to their unwavering hope, even in the face of adversity. Through their dedicated pastor, we’ve supported the construction of a school, recently adding three new classrooms. Mission International recognises the impact of emigration on Haiti and is committed to empowering the next generation through education. We trust that God will provide a path to stability and safety for this beloved nation.
Empowering Communities Through Faith and Health
Preaching in Churches
Over the years, every team that has gone to Ouanaminthe has had the privilege of sharing the gospel in several churches. Spiritual battles are taking place in Haiti, especially with Voodoo being a strong cultural influence, even among those on the periphery of the church. Please continue to pray for the people of Haiti; they have been through a lot in recent years, yet the gospel is changing lives.
Primary School
In Haiti, amidst challenging circumstances, the construction of this primary school stands as a beacon of hope for the community of Ouanaminthe. This school provides a vital educational foundation, offering children a safe and nurturing environment to learn and grow. We have supported the amazing staff, who are usually underpaid, and find it hard to continue to teach. We are so grateful for those who have partnered with Mission International and continue to believe that by investing in the school, we are investing in the future of the people of Ouanaminthe.
Teams
Mission International has sent many teams to Haiti. We find it best for teams to see the needs on the ground firsthand, provide help through local channels, assess any additional building work required, and simply spend time with the very busy pastor and his support team to offer encouragement and guidance where needed.
The Big Meal
Mission International delivers the Big Meal in most of the countries where we work, and Haiti is no exception. The basic cost of food is high in Haiti, as we found on our last trip, so many people have at best one meal a day. For just £3, you can give a child in Haiti the gift of a nutritious meal. It’s also a great way to bring people together at Christmas.
