Global Sponsor is designed to include a wide range of small but effective projects. ‘Global’ not only means worldwide but also universal and inclusive. Mission International provides a means of bringing support to a broad range of people in very different situations that are linked by poverty and need. From child sponsorship to small project sponsorship you can help alleviate the need and provide a means out of the poverty trap and make the future more promising to those in need.

To support any of these projects go to the giving page and download the relevant form.

Child sponsorship:

Orphaned children living in the developing world face hunger, homelessness, lack of education and sickness every day in life and for the majority there is no one to help. Mission International works with partner organisations in Burundi, India, Rwanda and Uganda to bring much needed sponsorship support to orphans and other needy children. The sponsorship will provide a range of benefits depending on the child’s situation including food, clothing, education accommodation and medical health support. You can be involved in the sponsorship of a child from £5.00 - £20.00 per month. (£5, £10 & £15 you will join with others to sponsor a child £20 per month you will be the sole sponsor).

Children with Leprosy:

A large number of children in poor communities around the world still suffer from Leprosy. This treatable disease blights their young lives and with support they can have treatment made available to them. The treatment which will transform their lives is readily available but is too costly for them to afford. Mission International’s child sponsorship scheme includes children with leprosy making it possible for them to see a brighter future.

Schools sponsorship:

Many countries in the developing world do not enjoy free government funded education and so in order to have education in a community churches and other organisations set up schools to provide for their children. Mission International is committed to helping these schools to provide a high quality education and have set up small projects to help fund the schools. A list of options is laid out here to help you consider if you can help Mission International and their partner schools.

Sponsor a teacher:

Teachers in schools in the developing world are often legally required to look after 50 children in each classroom. Because of the lack of good teachers and the huge demand for education and high class numbers good teachers are hard to maintain. Sponsoring a teacher will affect many children making it possible for them to receive a quality education.

Sponsor scholastic materials:

Due to the poor situation from which many children in the developing world come, their ability to provide scholastic materials like pencils, paper and books is very limited. A child who comes to school without the appropriate ‘tools’ will not benefit fully from the lessons provided. Mission International sponsors the resources required by the child by making a small grant available to purchase what they need at the beginning of each school term. For the equivalent of only a few pounds a child can go to school with the necessary materials.

Sponsor the building of a classroom/Dormitory:

Building a school can be a very worthwhile but daunting task. The project is so huge that it seems impossible to get there. Schools in the developing world have the added cost of constructing dormitories for the children to sleep in. Government regulations are rightly strict but this causes schools in poor communities an added burden in terms of funding and provision. Mission International sees education as one of the main elements to developing a society and so partners with poor communities to find the resources to bring education to their children thus making the future brighter and more positive for everyone. Costs to build a classroom or dormitory vary and so Mission International has requested that you consider what you can give

Sponsor a school desk or a dormitory bunk bed:

For as little as £25 for a twin desk unit and £50 for a bunk bed means that it is possible to provide simple resources to a school within a limited budget. However even these simple costs, which may seem low for us who live in the western world, can be beyond the reach of schools that are struggling in a poverty stricken community.

Sponsor a Global citizen:

It is true that from time to time we come across some of the world’s most special people, unsung heroes who serve humanity and their community tirelessly for no recompense; their only ‘compensation’ is to know that their community is better off as a result of their efforts.   There are others who for whatever reasons have managed to fight through in difficult circumstances to achieve great things for themselves and having done so are an inspiration to others.

Sponsor a small project:

A small grant to start an income generating project can make a huge difference to the long term future for a family in the developing world. Mission International is offering small grants to poor families to help them break out of the poverty trap.

Check out the Projects page on this site to see how you can become involved in this worthwhile endeavour. Projects include:-

  • A cow project
  • A goat project
  • A chicken project
  • A pig project
  • A fishing boat project
  • A fish farming project
  • A brick making project
  • A seeds & Tools project

Sponsor a refugee home:

Refugees returning from camps arrive home with only what they can carry. Their belongings worn out by their years of exile and the journey they have made. Having arrived home they find that all that remains of their property is the land on which once stood their house and vegetable gardens. They start again with nothing. Mission International is helping refugees and other poor families to begin again after war or natural disaster has destroyed their home and their living. A house is more than a roof over your head; it’s a home, a place of belonging, its part of a community and so much more. Providing a family with a home relieves the pressures of the years on being a non-person in particular for displaced people and refugees.
